The brief was to design a magazine rack out of a single sheet of cardboard. No adhesives, fasteners or additional materials.

Through the age-old art of Kirigami, we were able to create a magazine rack that was as simple as its design brief. No parts, a single sheet of cardboard that can be assembled into an aesthetic magazine rack in a second.

The assembled magazine rack constantly evolves throughout its lifespan, almost as if it has a life of its own. Each new magazine and its position within the magazine rack creates a different configuration, resulting in a permanent metamorphosis of the design.

Due to its simplicity, it can be flat-packed for transport and storage. Its simple rectangular form with cut-out lines also means that there is minimum wastage in the manufacturing process.
